Homecoming
September 29, 2016
On Friday our school had their Homecoming. Homecoming is a tradition started by colleges to encourage alumni to come back one weekend a year. High schools also have such an event.
Sedan had a great Homecoming week filled with lots and lots of school spirit. The students decorated the hallways and cafeteria and participated in spirit dress up days. Thursday night the town came out for a Block Party where the FFA served dinner, STUCO sponsored games and the football team’s jerseys were auctioned off to raise money for STUCO sponsored activities. Friday started off with the football team and cheerleaders greeting the elementary school students and then led them in spirit cheers. The cafeteria made a special lunch that included Blue Devil Cupcakes and the players and cheerleaders joined the younger students for lunch. In the afternoon the high school classes competed in field games before the parade went down Elm Street and culminated at the Court House for a Sedan Blue Devil Rally.
Prior to the Homecoming football game, Keven Wiggans was crowned Homecoming King and Haley Williams was crowned Homecoming Queen. The band provided entertainment at half-time and the Blue Devils extended their winning streak to 5-0. After the game, high school students were treated to an outdoor movie. Fire pits were set-up to roast hot dogs and s’mores. There also was popcorn and drinks.
Attached are pictures which show the high school students dressed up for a spirit day, greeting the elementary students, the high school students having lunch with the students, the afternoon high school games where the girls played "powderpuff" football and the boys played volleyball, the parade, the coronation of the King and Queen, and the football game.
